The White Light - Biography

White Light comprises of Drums, Bass, Guitar and Vocals (with occasional keyboards, recorder, kazoo, harmonica etc etc.). The members of the band have a vast amount of musical experience between them, the majority of this as live performers. The four members of the band have been playing together for well over 25 years. Peter C. Swash (Vocal) and Paul Bonham (Drums) have been in various bands since their youth filled days at school. These include The Exclusives, The Voices (where they secured a record deal with Phonogram, Records) and Karen D'Ache. It was whilst in Karen D’Ache that Steve Hayes (Guitar) and Steve Awcock (Bass) joined Peter and Paul. This was a collaboration that was to span a decade with the band gaining a notable following both in this country and abroad, taking on extensive touring throughout the UK and amassing a total of more than 2000 gigs between them, including shows at major venues in London such as The Electric Ballroom, The Mean Fiddler and The Astoria to mention a few. They also went on various tours to Europe throughout their time together. They regrouped in 2006 after nearly ten years apart. Paul and Steve Hayes played in another local band for that time called Tailspin, and achieved notable acclaim. Peter had been pursuing his own songwriting projects and produced a successful run of jingles for local radio. Steve Awcock however thought that he had officially retired, but it only took a second to consider the request of getting back together and starting a covers band.
